Editor, Times-Union: When a government acts as if the people are revolting, it shouldn’t be shocked when the people revolt. Trump realized early that the people were ready to revolt and became a leader of the pack. Hillary has considered most people the little people, and in November may be trampled by their tiny feet. In order to win the presidency and remain in office for eight years, the next president will have to honor the will of the people instead of misshape it like Obama has. If the person wants to do something questionable, that person will have to give a good reason for doing what they want to do. Obama may have succeeded by telling people lies they wanted to believe. But if Trump blames the Clintons for receiving money from Saudi Arabia in appreciation for weakening the military and allowing 9/11 terrorism to happen, or that the Bin Laden family gave them money to keep Osama a free man, Donald should expect people to check the facts to see if the information is true. If Hillary tried to squash the rumors, multitudes might believe they’re true and will demand actual facts and not manufactured ones. People want lower taxes and less restrictions that limit their ability to be successful. If alien technology could help our economy by at least $1 trillion, something a supermarket tabloid wouldn’t publish, the people may demand disclosure. If the president stands in the way of progress, the people may demand that person’s removal. Rush Limbaugh on June 1, 1992, called my applied capitalism idea economic fascism. I call it economic democracy because I believe the citizens should be partners with the government instead of adversaries so that both can be successful. The government might start a company that is needed. But the citizens would control it and make it profitable. The suggestion program, which would pay people for their ideas, might be the needed incentive to bring about great things that could benefit this nation and the rest of the world. If the will of the people dictates that we open mines, give back a lot of federal land to the public, invest in research and development in many areas, eliminate needless government regulations, reward success instead of punish it, abolish political correctness, honor morality, punish criminals properly, control immigration, respect and strengthen the military, make America more respected in the world and a true leader, and generally make this nation and the citizens greater, the president better fulfill the will of the people or expect their wrath. A good president is one that leads a people eager to follow that person into a glorious future, while a bad president needs to push a people, usually into a horrible future. Pray that our next president is of the people and not above them. Rick Badman Warsaw
