NORTH MANCHESTER - Teresa "Terri" L. Heckman, 55, of North Manchester, died at 2:25 p.m. Aug. 8, 2009, in Peabody Healthcare Center, North Manchester.
She was born April 1, 1954, in Marion, to Kay Freed, who preceded her in death. On June 1, 1975, she married Gary Heckman.
She was a school psychologist in Southwest Allen County School, Fort Wayne, for 14 years, and also worked in Wabash County, Huntington and Whitley school systems. She was a member of Manchester Church of the Brethren, North Manchester. She graduated from Northfield High School in 1972; Manchester College in 1976; and earned a master's and post-graduate degrees at Ball State. She founded Disabilities Resource Network in 2000. She was a charter member of Indiana Association of School Psychologists; a member of Tri Kappa, Manchester Public Library Board of Trustees, Planning Council, Area 5 Head Start and Transit Advisory Council, Wabash County.
Surviving are a son, Kenneth Andrew Heckman, North Manchester; a daughter, Kathryn (and spouse Samuel) Phillips, North Manchester; and two grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Manchester Church of Brethren, North Manchester, with Pastors Kurt Borgmann and Karen Eberly officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn, Cemetery, North Manchester.
