Tandy Tenders Resignation From Warsaw School Board

Posted
The president of the Warsaw Community Schools Board of Trustees announced her resignation at Tuesday’s work meeting.
Jennifer Tandy, who had been on the school board for 6 years and its president for 5, did not attend Tuesday meeting, but called in to thank the school board for serving with her.
“I have thoroughly appreciated the opportunity to serve on the board,” she said.
Tandy and her husband, Brad, are relocating to San?Diego for his new job, prompting to her to step aside from her role on the board.
“It’s hard to say goodbye. You have  left a legacy here that can’t be said in a statement,” said Heather Reichenbach, board member, through tears.
Superintendent Dr. David Hoffert called it a bittersweet moment. “Her dedication helped provide greater educational opportunities for our students,” he said in a statement.
According to a press release from WCS, during Tandy’s tenure it saw higher graduation rates, new educational and extracurricular facilities, including a new elementary school, the creation of a STEM academy among many other accomplishments.
Tandy’s resignation is effective Oct. 1. She promised to “work closely with the school board and adminIstration to ensure a smooth transition for my successor.”
Tandy’s vacancy will be filled by appointment by the school board. To apply a person can send a letter of interest to Hoffert and explain why they are interested in serving. Candidates must reside within school district No. 5, which consists of Winona Lake and the far east side of Warsaw.  Letters should be submitted by no later than Sept. 30.
Once the board selects a appointee, that person will serve the rest of Tandy’s two year term.
