It is time Mark Soto takes responsibility for his actions and faces reality.
At the seven-day trial, Scott Lennox presented absolutely no defense for Mr. Soto. His defense was, “Mr. Soto was just like all the others,” “a victim” sucked in by that “bad man,” Mr. Kevin Bronson.
Now, at the 11th hour, Mr. Lennox throws up a road block, a ploy, and blames the jury for not getting the verdict right.
Please allow me to render my take on this whole thing. (I was at the trial all seven days.)
Mr. Soto was the “kingpin.” He is the one who gave it credibility — no one believed Bronson.
Soto was the glue that held this Ponzo investment together (i.e., Soto held and distributed the money, $300K, the carrots. The investors were told the first run of the film would gross $40 million. The result: The film of Bronson’s life was never made. The money is gone.)
Mr. Soto could have gotten out at any time and this whole thing would have fallen apart like the proverbial house of cards, and we wouldn’t be here where we are today.
On Thursday, Sept. 28, at 1 o’clock, special Judge Stephen A. Bowers from Goshen will render his sentence in accordance to the law and the jury’s verdict.
In my opinion, Judge Bowers will not buy Mr. Lennox’s appeal that Mr. Soto serve only the 500 hours of community service, with no jail time (i.e., a Rovenstine) (one count intimidation). To do so would be a travesty and render null and void all the countless hours the prosecuting attorney spent in preparation and delivery of this trial. And also the seven days the 14 jurors spent in coming to a fair and just conclusion — the verdict.
