NORTH MANCHESTER - Susan A. Urschel, 74, of Leesburg, (Saw Mill Lake), and formerly of Bippus, died at 10:46 a.m. May 30, 2010, in Parkview Huntington Hospital.

She was born Nov. 5, 1935, in Bippus, to Roy G. and Mary F. Huffman Lancaster. On Nov. 18, 1956, she married Marion B. Urschel Jr., who died July 30, 2001.

She was a homemaker and a seamstress with Oppenheim's Store and later with Mabel Urschel, forming a custom drapery shop known as Iron Kettle Draperies. She taught sewing and quilting through the Huntington County Home Extension office and later through Huntington County adult education classes. She was a member of New Hope United Church of Christ, Bippus, where she served as church board president during the consolidation of St. John's United Church of Christ, Bippus, and Servia United Church of Christ. She graduated from Bippus High School in 1953. She was a member in the Huntington Heritage Guild at the Forks-of-the-Wabash and the Night-N-Gals Extension Homemakers Club. She volunteered with the Senior Pack Program at Huntington.

Surviving are two sons, Chris (and spouse Rena) Urschel, Bippus, and Eric (and spouse Kay) Urschel, Leo; a daughter, Amy (and spouse Mike) Frick, Zanesville; a brother, Ronald (and spouse Esther) Lancaster, Huntsville, Ala.; two sisters, Judith (and spouse Ronald) Moeller, Columbia City, and Beth (and spouse Dan) Zile, Wentzville, Mo.; five grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Services will be at 10 a.m. June 12 at New Hope United Church of Christ, Bippus, with Pastors Larry Holderbaum and Lois Landrum officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Bippus.

Calling is from 9 a.m. until the time of service June 12 at the church.
