BRONSON, Mich. – Steven D. Pickett, 54, formerly of Warsaw, passed away Sept. 27, 2013, at the Community Health Center of Branch County, Coldwater, Mich.
He was born March 14, 1959, in Columbia City, to Harry and Eva “Gerry” Engle Pickett. On May 11, 1996, in Sturgis, Mich., he married Teeka L. Ludwick, who survives, and they resided in Warsaw until moving to Bronson in 2008.
He graduated from Warsaw Community High School in 1977. He worked as a machinist at Gatke Corporation in Warsaw for 19 years before working at Putnam Manufacturing. He was a member of the First Congregational Church in Bronson for several years and served as a Boy Scout leader in both Bronson and in Warsaw. He was also a member of the American Legion Post #49, Warsaw, as his father was a veteran of the Korean War. He will be remembered as a loving husband and father. He enjoyed fishing, NASCAR, family gatherings, bonfires and camping in the backyard or at the race track. He had a great love for nature and was an avid bird watcher.
Surviving are three sons, Steven Michaul, Nicolas and Allen Pickett, all of Bronson; his mother, Gerry Pickett, Warsaw; two brothers, Joseph Daniel (and spouse Connie) Pickett, Warsaw; Timothy Pickett, Pierceton; two sisters, Shelly (and spouse Tim) Goshert, and Cindy Justice, both of Warsaw; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, grandparents, an aunt and several uncles.
Services will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Dutcher-Kolcz Funeral Home, Bronson, with Pastor Terry Siler officiating.
Calling is two hours prior to services at the funeral home.
