After weeks of the liberal Democratic candidates taking turns, writing similar letters to the editor with the same spiel, suggesting that the Wayne Township trustee’s office has accumulated too much money in their accounts, or has been operating improperly, I want to offer an alternative and truthful perspective.
Typical of left-wing Democratic philosophy, the opposition is trying to justify, in advance, their spending of the surplus the Wayne Township trustee’s office has skillfully accumulated.
It is the minimum amount likely needed to protect Wayne Township citizens from the inevitable emergency all communities eventually encounter. Hopefully, even at its current level, it is enough for a growing municipality the size of Wayne Township.
Additionally, the Democrats are ceaselessly and thoughtlessly criticizing someone who is not running for re-election. Sheila Burner is retiring after masterfully running the trustee’s office in a compassionate, conservative manner, with regular hours in a convenient, adequately staffed, main street location.
Moreover, the Democratic trustee contender has consistently taken pictures of prominent Republicans and placed them in their promotionals, falsely suggesting the Republicans were supporting them. Complaints have also been reported that they are placing their campaign signs on property without the owner’s permission, suggesting broader support than they are receiving.
Regarding the Bruce Woodward endorsement: Mr. Woodward admitted to me following a recent Wayne Township trustee meeting that he made his Democratic endorsement decision without communicating, interviewing or ever talking to Jeanie Stackhouse. What is right and fair about that?
Before appointing him to the ballot as a candidate for the Wayne Township Board, Mr. Woodward assured me that he was consistent with our Republican values and was supportive of our ticket. A check of his voting record indicated that he was a solid Republican. Regretfully, because of his ill-advised endorsement, I can no longer support his candidacy.
Jeanie Stackhouse, currently an investigator and seven-year employee of the Wayne Township trustee’s office, is the best and most qualified choice.
I encourage all Wayne Township voters to elect Jeanie Stackhouse for your trustee and Josh Spangle and Gordon Nash as your Township Board members.
