Speeding Concerns

Posted
Editor, Times-Union:

I live at Warsaw retirement (yellow apartments behind Walmart). I am a senior that is very concerned about the safety of all my neighbors in this very fine community. With this in mind I went to our police department on July 17 with the following complaint and suggestions that might help solve the very flagrant speeding problem on Parent Drive. Here is a copy of what I presented to a police of the warsaw on 7-17-2018;

"It would appear to me that no matter how fast southbound traffic goes they are not breaking any speed limit laws, because there are no speed limit signs in place. Many cars in my judgement are going 50 to 60 mph through our senior community that should be posted at 25 mph. I fear for my life and the life of my neighbors. There is a 25 mph speed limit south end of Parent Drive.

I offered the following suggestions:

(1) Park speed trailer at south end Parent Drive.

(2) Put speed limit signs (25mph) on north end of street where yellow apartments start.

(3) Park a police car by dumpster (south end of  Parent Drive).

(4) Check speed with radar gun from 6 to 8 a.m.

(5) Check speed of cars with radar from 4 to 6 p.m.

 The radar checks to be done at dumpster area south end of Parent Drive.

Since I talked to a police officer on July 17, to my knowledge nothing has been done to make our street safer.
