Space Force Will Be Needed

President Trump wants America to have a space force. It took the Air Force decades to go from the Army Air Corps to a separate branch of the military. Even though I support the creation of a space force, it might be too early to have it become reality yet.

Over 30 years ago I talked about a space force on my cable TV program in Peekskill, N.Y. I'm not saying I influenced Trump since he lived in the state back then. Most likely "Star Trek" with its Federation of Planets inspired him. But I believe it will eventually exist once we consider living in space normal. By then, it could become the glamour branch as well as the most dangerous branch of the military.

Even if the millennial reign of Christ happens when the space force exists and there will be peace on earth, it may still be needed to bring order to various frontiers like the Kuyper Belt, where fortunes will be earned thanks to mining of planetoids. The space force will be used to administer the region, patrol it, and keep objects from hurtling toward earth and Mars to destroy those planets. The space force will also control the planetary defense systems and the acceleration stations that will accelerate via field repulsion space ships to the stars.

A century from now, if hyperlight physics becomes a reality, we might have starships similar to those featured in the "Star Trek" movies and TV programs. But they will be faster, more powerful and capable of doing things I can only imagine. The space force will accompany explorers, and settlers,  and eventually tourists to the stars. There might not be war on Earth or in the solar system in the future. But that doesn't mean the rest of the universe will be friendly. If there is life on other worlds, the inhabitants might be hostile toward us and we will have to meet force with force.

The pay and benefits personnel in the space force receive may be better. But when you consider that even a minor problem might cause death, those who join the space force will have to be special people: the best of the best. A region 1,000 light-years from Earth might become as familiar as a neighborhood in Indiana.

President Trump might not live to see the formation of the space force. But it is nearly inevitable and will be needed once it becomes a branch of the military.
