ETNA GREEN – A South Whitley woman is dead after her car was rear-ended by a semi tractor-trailer near Etna Green this morning, according to police.
Vicki Sue Bartz, 52, was pronounced dead at the scene by the county coroner.
Police say Bartz, who was headed west, was stopped at the traffic light at the intersection of U.S. 30 and Ind. 19 when the a semi rear-ended her car, according to a news release from the Kosciusko?County Sheriff’s Department.
Waldemar A. Palys, no age provided, East Stroudsburg, Pa., told police he might have fallen asleep at the wheel prior to the crash.
The crash is still under investigation by the Kosciusko County Fatal Alcohol Crash Team. Etna Green Fire Department, Lutheran EMS and KCSD assisted at the scene.
