Lady Squires Win Manchester Soccer Invitational

NORTH MANCHESTER –  With wins over Rochester and Logansport, Manchester’s girls soccer team won its invitational Saturday at Good Field.

The Lady Squires beat Rochester 4-3 in overtime in the first round. Julie Dalsager and Emma Garriott scored first-half goals for Manchester, with Bailey Mooney getting the equalizer with less than a minute left in regulation. Mooney scored again in overtime for the victory.

Manchester then downed Logansport 2-0 for the title. Mooney scored early in the second half, and Garriott found the net for an insurance goal with three minutes left. Carsyn Howard assisted on the Garriott goal.

Mooney was the tournament’s most valuable player.  Kiera Stacy had 26 saves in the two games, including 20 in the title match.

On Tuesday Manchester returns to Three Rivers Conference play when it hosts North Miami.



Squires Finish Second


NORTH MANCHESTER – After a thrilling 3-2 overtime win over Fort Wayne Snider in the opening game, Manchester finished second in its boys soccer invitational Saturday following a 3-0 loss to South Bend Riley in the title game.

Harley Kruschwitz scored twice for the Squires in the opener, including the game-winner in overtime. Eric Morales had the equalizer in the second half.

Manchester returns to Three Rivers Conference play Tuesday, playing at Tippecanoe Valley.

Warriors Upset Chargers

SYRACUSE – Blaine Faught scored the first of three opening-half goals for Wawasee in its 3-1 upset of  No. 12 (2A) West Noble Saturday night in a boys soccer match at Warrior Field.

Chris Pena converted a penalty kick, then assisted on Ian Lambright’s goal.

The junior varsity match ended in a 1-1 draw. Evan Dippon scored the Warrior goal.

Now 3-1 overall, Wawasee wlll travel to Culver Academies on Wednesday for a non-conference match.



Concord Blanks Wawasee

DUNLAP – Wawasee was on the short end of an 8-0 loss at Concord in Northern Lakes Conference girls soccer Saturday.

The Lady Warriors (1-5) host Lakeland Christian Academy on Thursday.

Lady ‘Cats Win In OT

SOUTH WHITELY – Julia Seifert scored twice, and Charlotte Cripe converted a penalty kick to help Whitko to a 4-3 come-from-behind overtime over Maconaquah in a Three Rivers Conference girls soccer match Saturday.

Ella Danner also scored her first career goal for Whitko.

Whitko will host Bethany Christian Thursday in a non-conference matchup.



Tigers Fall At Penn

OSCEOLA – Warsaw and No. 13 (3A) Penn played their boys soccer match to a scoreless tie in the first half Saturday, then the Kingsmen scored three goals in the final 40 minutes for a 3-0 non-conference win.

The Tigers will travel to Dunlap Wednesday for a Northern Lakes Conference match against Concord.
