I am grateful for the Times-Union to publish my letters. I’m not a professional writer, but apparently I’ve struck the nerve of a fellow letters colleague. It seems Mr. Osbun disagrees with my attempt at social discourse. It does not surprise me that he would have objections to my ideas as I believe Mr. Osbun leans a little left.
Let’s review his critique of my letter. He claims that all I do is complain. I do not complain, I only wish to point out the actions of the socialist who has captured the will of their people, oppressed them, stolen their will and their money. It is the very people who use racism and words like “equity” that have been trying to divide this country. The far-left socialist uses terms like Mr. Osbun, “systemic racism,” a term dug out of our past used by the Black Panthers of the early ’70s. You see, the left has been doing this racial division for every election since LBJ was forced into signing the Civil Rights Act of 1964!
This divisive language that was the center of the BLM and Antifa attacks on many cities over the last two years is real. All the cities torched and looted are governed by Democrats, they are populated by mostly black leadership and have very diverse city councils and very diverse police departments. I think the definition of racism is a belief that one race feels they are better than another. Since the vast majority of these cities under siege are governed by minorities, you might want to rethink your systemic racism theory.
Cops are people, too. They have families and join in on functions for the community. I can’t help but to be a little bias for the cops. They put their uniforms on every morning or evening, depending on their shift. They go to work not knowing if they’ll come home. They confront an array of people, many of which are, might I say, are a little unhooked. These confrontations usually occur while we are safe in our beds. You open the Times-Union and discover there was chaos while you were asleep.
If we continue to allow the socialist to twist us around, we will be in a constant whirlpool of hate unable to accept one another as children of God, each with our faults and each with something to offer.
