Silver Lake Days Disappointing

Posted
Editor, Times-Union:
I and a lot of other people were disappointed with Silver Lake Days. There was nothing for the elderly or the young children of this town.

We should be proud of this town. Maybe we need to have someone that cares about this town run the Silver Lake Days. (Also the other duties that are ran by this person.)

We were at the parade and were not able to enjoy it or the children around us. There were small gaps in the parade and one of the ladies that run this came running down yelling at the drivers in the parade go faster through, there were kids trying to get candy from the parade, she was asked to not let them go so fast so we could enjoy the parade and the kids could get their candy. And her reply was too many gaps, and this is the way it was going to be. Other things were said but we need to look at the problems instead of what is said.

Also, kids and the adults on the floats and trailers could have easily fallen off with driving to fast. Where is the safety of that?  Any parade that I have ever been to have been throwing out candy to young kids, the drivers in parades are aware of these young kids and watch for them as to not hit them.

Squirt guns have been taken away as to one certain person has been hit with the water, water dries. Most people are not scared of water. Enough has been taken away from our young kids here, one of these days these young children will grow up to run this town, do we want them to not care about this town.

I would hope that we continue Silver Lake Days with a parade and more booths, (draw more people and booths in) more things for the young and elderly to do. The people in Silver Lake need to make a stand and say this is our town, let’s make a difference.
