Silver Lake Day Parade, Car Show Winners Announced

SILVER LAKE – The rain held off Saturday for a sunny Silver Lake Day.

Along with a parade featuring grand marshal Mike Sells, the Silver Lake Day Car, Truck and Motorcycle Show had a good turnout. There were 140 units in the parade.

Winners for the 41st annual Silver Lake Day Festival parade were: color guard, Indiana Patriot Guard Riders; band, Warsaw Community High School Marching Tigers; cutie queen, Emmalia Weitzel; cutie king, Dane Parker; youth service, Silver Lake Youth League; commercial, The Igloo; motorcycles, Road Riders for Jesus; antique car/truck, Frank and Karna Earl; antique tractor, Echoes of the Past; service club, Silver Lake Lions Club; church, First Freewill Baptist Church; miscelleaneous, Kerlin Motor Co.; bike (no motor), Uncle Spoke’s; parade theme, The Tub Marlin, Kathy Carr and Hayden Parker; horse, Launda Ewell; judge’s choice, North Manchester Civic Bank.

Anyone who has not already picked up their trophy, can get it at Lake City Bank in Silver Lake.

For the car, truck and motorcycle show, Best of Show winners were Jeff and Missy Smith, Rochester, with their 1937 Ford Swindow Coupe.

The following three trophies were chosen by the organization listed: Lions Club Trophy, Sue Baker, Claypool, 1968 Ford Mustang Convertible; Firemen's Trophy, Larry Wagoner, Akron, 1975 KW900; and EMS Trophy, Jim Rhoads, Wabash, 1955 Chevy Bel Air.

The Club Participation Trophy went to Black Top Cruisers with 12 entries.
