School Warning Lights

Your readers have wrote you on this topic earlier this year.

Since the installation of the warning lights at our local schools for Warsaw students who cross the street at dismissal, have the warning lights made a difference with drivers not slowing their speed to stop at crosswalks?

I have noticed that drivers occasionally or once per week disregard our crossing guard’s stop signs at Lakeview Middle or other elementary schools. A percentage of drivers do stop at crosswalks when the crossing guard holds up the sign.

My question is, does the city need to update the warning lights to something different to a pedestrian signal that stops traffic? Or does this need additional study? Question is, do we need a study or do we ask whose duty is it to cross our daughters or sons once they are dismissed from school? School personnel or law enforcement? Is a driver going to disregard a police officer? Think about this.
