Sara Elaine DeMunda, 67, of Goshen, died at 7:52 a.m. June 7, 2009, in her residence.
She was born May 2, 1942, in Muncie. Her parents were Howard and Charlene Skinner Lamb, and stepmother, Eva Bales Lamb. On Jan. 27, 1962, she married Ronald Russell. On Sept. 11, 1993, she married Gerald DeMunda, who survives.
She grew up in Muncie and moved to the Mentone area before finally settling in Goshen. An avid quilter, she taught quilt making to friends and neighbors. She was actively involved with the Bethel United Methodist Church as the church secretary. She loved to laugh and made friends easily. Her favorite holiday was Halloween and she loved watching scary movies.
Also surviving are her blended family, including her children: Ronda (and spouse Rick) Morris, Warsaw; Leanne Redden, Nappanee; Carmella (and spouse Mike) Demunda-Harnishfeger and Rebecca DeMunda (and spouse Brett) Nerstrom, all of Chicago, Ill.; and Karl (and spouse Maggie) DeMunda, Cedar Rapids, Iowa; four sisters, Linda Jo Clark, Kay Rankin, Sally DeBord and Margorie Wright, all of Muncie; and eight grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, a son and a granddaughter.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw, with Pastor Catherine Koziatek officiating. Burial will be in Sycamore Cemetery, Mentone.
