MILFORD - Ruth A. Rarig Beer, 87, of Syracuse, passed away Feb. 6, 2011, in Goshen General Hospital.
She was born May 28, 1923, in Syracuse, to Guy and Eva Meek Rarig. She married Donald H. Beer Sr., who passed away Aug. 23, 2009.
A lifetime area resident, she was a graduate of Syracuse High School and was the valedictorian of her class. She was devoted to her husband and family. She kept busy helping on the farm and enjoyed playing golf, traveling and was a great cook. She was a member of the Silver Thimble Club and the Milford Apostolic Christian Church. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and will be missed dearly by her family.
Surviving are five children, Carol (and spouse Dane) Rumfelt, Goshen; Joyce (and spouse Dan) Nickelson, Richmond; Jim (and spouse Debbie) Beer and Jack (and spouse Donna) Beer, all of Milford; and Don (and spouse Nancy) Beer Jr., Goshen; 13 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother and a sister.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Milford Apostolic Christian Church. Burial will follow in Milford Cemetery.
Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Mishler Funeral Home, 461 W. CR 900W, Milford, and an hour prior to the service Friday at the church.
