Roundup Led By Warsaw Golf Team's Win In Middlebury

MIDDLEBURY — Playing on the home course of the Northridge Raiders Tuesday, the sixth-ranked Warsaw boys golf team picked up two Northern Lakes Conference wins.
At Middlebury’s Spring Meadow Farm Golf Club, Warsaw shot a 151, while Northridge finished with a 162 and Concord wrapped up play with a 168.
The two wins improved Warsaw’s season record to 9-0 and its NLC mark to 5-0.
On the par-36 back nine, Warsaw’s Tyler Ostrom and Jon Schram each shot a one-under 35, while Jonny Hollar finished with a 40, followed by Bennett Hollar’s 41 and Tim Ahlersmeyer’s 43.

Tuesday in Syracuse
The Wawasee boys golf team was hit with a pair of Northern Lakes Conference losses Tuesday at South Shore Golf Club in Syracuse. Wawasee shot a 168 on the par-36 course, while NorthWood came in with a 154 and Elkhart Memorial completed its round with a 163. NorthWood’s Dylan Gessinger was the medalist, shooting a two-under 34 with his teammate Payton Grubbs finishing with a 36. Wawasee was led by Derek Zurcher’s 40. The Warriors play another three-way NLC match Thursday at Bent Oak Golf Club in Elkhart against Concord and Plymouth.

Manchester was led by Tyler Watson’s 39 on the par-36 course. The Squires play a three-way conference match at Mill Creek Golf Course in Rochester on Thursday against Tippecanoe Valley and Whitko.

Valley hosts Whitko, Manchester and Lakeland Christian Academy Thursday at Mill Creek Golf Course in Rochester.

The Lakeland Christian Academy boys golf team posted two wins Tuesday at Black Squirrel Golf Club at Larimer Greens in Goshen. Shooting a 179, LCA defeated Jimtown’s 217 and Bethany Christian’s 244. Leading the way for the Cougars were Ross Wallen and Zarek Finley, who both shot a 42. LCA travels to Deer Track Golf Course in Auburn Friday to take on Lakewood Park Christian.

Wrapping up their regular season with a home match against the Culver Girls Academy Tuesday, the Warsaw girls tennis team lost 4-1. Resting a number of girls in the team loss, Warsaw did get a win at No. 1 doubles, where Olivia Wallin and Taylor Moore won 6-4, 7-5. The Lady Tigers face Wawasee tonight in the opening match of the Warsaw Sectional.

Tonight’s sectional match is slated to begin at 5 p.m.
