Ronald Himes, 87, Warsaw, passed away at 1:28 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 4, 2018, in his residence.
He was born March 14, 1931, in Plymouth, to Herman and Edna Higgs Himes.
Ron was a 1949 graduate of Warsaw High School. He faithfully served his country in the United States Army as a corporal (E-4) in the AUS Artillery from 1952 through 1960 during the Korean War.
He was united in marriage to Marjorie E. Huffer in April 1954 in Warsaw. She preceded him Jan. 19, 2015.
He was employed at Custom Tile of Warsaw as carpet and flooring installer and then by Kosciusko County Highway Department with 28 years of service prior to retiring, and then by H.D. Creamer as a carpet and flooring installer.
He was a member of the NRA and Warsaw American Legion Post 49.
Ron was an avid attender of area auctions and a “member” of the McDonald’s Morning Coffee Club.
Ron is survived by his son, Garry (and spouse Connie) Himes, Warsaw; five grandchildren: Beth (and spouse James) Weddell, Noblesville; Matt (and spouse Rachelle) Himes, Warsaw; Brad and Brock Himes, both of Warsaw, and Brianna Himes, Fort Wayne. He is also survived by seven great-grandchildren: Alexis, Morgan, Nolan, Alex, Katelyn, Angel and Sophia.
He was preceded by his wife; a son, Robert; a brother, Jack; and a sister, Vivian Joan.
A funeral service is scheduled at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 9, in McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, 2290 Provident Court, Warsaw, with Pastor Mike Beezley officiating.
Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw, with military honors rendered by American Legion Post 49, VFW Post 1126 and active duty members of the United States Army Honor Guard.
