Editor, Times-Union: On Thursday, July 21, a legislative Task Force, “Funding Indiana’s Roads for a Stronger, Safer Tomorrow,” will meet at the State House at 1 p.m. EDT to begin its work. More information including the Task Force members and what will be considered may be found at http://myusagovernment. org/?p=1687. Topics include the possibility of: “additional funding” being required, tolls being used on certain projects, “user fees,” “changing tax rates” and “dedicating some part of state sales tax to roads.” State Senator Randy Head’s legislative assistant has indicated that individual citizens in the audience will be given the opportunity to testify before the Task Group. It has been my experience that legislators pay special attention to individual citizens, particularly if they come from some distance to share their comments and concerns. If you have been frustrated with the condition of the roads and bridges in recent years you might want to be in Indianapolis July 21. Russ Phillips Rochester, via email
