Rhetoric Vs. Reality

Rhetoric Vs. Reality
Editor, Times-Union:
Comparing words to actions is like comparing a summer breeze to a tornado. Politicians use rhetoric to hide lies in the weeds of confusion.
Many say Clinton won the first debate against Trump. But if you cut the weeds you’ll find Hillary is a patch of thistles that can rip your bare feet when you don’t see them.
If reality were the same as rhetoric, we didn’t have a great economy under Reagan which created over 10 million jobs and  lasted, to some extent, while Bill Clinton was president. North Korea never developed nuclear weapons because Clinton had an agreement that prevented that. Raising taxes on the rich strengthens the economy. When we did that after the 1929 crash we must have had a fantastic economy with low unemployment. Maybe Hillary wants to duplicate the good times America experienced during the 1930s. Hillary wants the rich to pay their fair share because the government can use their money better than they can. Washington hired more people for government jobs in five years than the private economy hired while Reagan was president. They were 1941 to 1945 when those jobs were to defend America from the Axis powers.
Hillary said the economy does well when a Democrat is in the White House. Maybe I only dreamed Carter was president, since it seemed bad from 1977 to ’81. Trickle-down economics doesn’t work because rich people don’t invest their money in the economy to become richer and the jobs they create are make-believe. I guess people are hired by poor people, just like rain never causes flooding.
Hillary said stop-and-frisk doesn’t work to save lives. I guess there are 10,000 zombies in New York City that don’t realize they’re supposed to be in cemeteries and around 4,000 people only think they they’ve died while Obama has been president and should come up out of the ground.
Hillary and Obama made the Middle East and North Africa wonderful places, and Russia has deep respect for America. Millions can immigrate to America because we have plenty of jobs, and Europe has had no problems with refugees and Hillary wants tens of thousands to come here. What do we have to fear?
I want facts, not rhetoric.
