Editor, Times-Union:
Since 1900 the average life expectancy in the United States has risen more than 25 years. However, despite our greatest breakthroughs, death is still most people’s greatest fear and enemy, the inescapable and inevitable fact of life. Nevertheless, there is hope. The good news of Easter is there is life after death!
On the cross of Calvary, Jesus Christ suffered and died in our place so that we would not have to face God's judgment for our sin and rebellion. And on that first Easter morning, having paid for our sin in full, Jesus was raised to life.
Christ’s resurrection is more than a historical fact or theological doctrine; it is God's personal invitation to all of us to receive forgiveness, freedom and eternal life.
Jesus said, “You don't have to wait for the end. I am, right now, resurrection and life. The one who believes in me, even though he or she dies, will live. And everyone who lives believing in me does not ultimately die at all. Do you believe this?” (John 11:25-26)
What is the real story and truth of Easter? “God gave us eternal life; the life is in his Son. So, whoever has the Son, has life; whoever rejects the Son, rejects life.” (1 John 5:11-12)
Dear reader, why not prove with all the countless millions who have believed in Christ that this is the truth? Today, you can believe in Christ and receive eternal life.
“Say the welcoming word to God — ‘Jesus is my master’ — embracing, body and soul, God's work of doing in us what he did in raising Jesus from the dead. That's it. You're not ‘doing’ anything; you're simply calling out to God, trusting him to do it for you. That's salvation.” (Romans 10:9)
Happy Easter, and God bless you! (All scriptures are taken from The Message Bible.)
