Respect The Boss

Editor, Times-Union:

Our country is headed to socialism and poverty unless we learn and teach each other to respect and appreciate the leadership of our free market economy. More jobs, higher pay, and more job opportunities will only come from business owners, managers and salespeople.

One reason we are suffering high unemployment is all the disrespect and threats made to business owners. These include raising business taxes, raising personal income tax, repealing tax cuts currently in place, re-installing death taxes, carbon tax (which also will raise electric rates), requiring employee health insurance and taxing businesses for health care. When you tax the business at 50 percent plus, then tax the owner's income at 50 percent plus (also a double taxation), and raise so many of the costs to do business; there is no reason for the owner to re-invest or even consider a new start-up business.

We have the greatest business owners in the whole world who can create hundreds and thousands of new jobs. They have a proven track record. But they will not hire when you take away all the incentives and rewards. These owners will retire, sell their business, move their business out of the U.S.A., or close the doors. There are politicians today (and voters) who think owners should work for free, and not make any profit on the huge amount of money they have invested in their business.

And if government tries to create jobs (socialism), they are never as productive as the private sector jobs (remember FDR's Workfare, or the Soviet Union Communist/ Socialist econ omy?). Government also fails to read the market and fails to produce the products that people really want to buy. Do you want a workfare job, or a private sector job? It's time to thank the business owner for the thousands of dollars they've invested so we can have a job. And think about your job and for whom you want to work, before you vote in November.
