A couple of weeks ago or more I read an article by Jennifer Peryam in the Times-Union. The article was promoting a Lincoln Day luncheon for my representative from La cesspool Grande, otherwise known as Washington, D.C. I was to call a Mr. Foster for tickets, which I proceeded to do. I left my number several times asking where to send my $20.
Finally, I thought perhaps it's because I am a registered Democrazy that I wasn't contacted. Still wishing very much to ask my hard-to-find representative a question, I asked someone else to contact Mr. Foster. That happened to be an independent voter not on a Republican list.
The person did call, and guess what? They received no return call either.
Relieved that it wasn't just my bad breath that stood in the way, I proceeded to the luncheon at 11:30 a.m. at Bogey's great restaurant on the green. I could hardly contain my excitement at having a chance to meet my representative.
After locating the ticket table, I approached Mr. Foster, but didn't get a chance to introduce myself. Mr. Foster said, "You're Tom, aren't you?" I said yes. Then he sternly stated, "You can't come in here." I said, "But I never get a chance to talk to my representative and thought this would be a great time to do it." "You can't come in here," was Mr. Foster's second utterance.
I said to him, "You know I was wearing out shoes for Senator Barry Goldwater, Congressman John Schmitz and even ran a Ronald Regan for California governor office while you were probably still in grade school."
I was never told why I could not meet my representative, or why others were not given the opportunity to buy tickets. I guess this was a special list of big contributors.
Oh, yes. My question would have been: "Since the Pentagon has made it perfectly clear that Saddam had nothing to do with 9-11 or the Al Queda, would he not block the Indiana Guard from being forced back into an insane civil war? To do so could mean even more dead or maimed Hoosiers coming home. And if you, Rep. Souder, wouldn't do it, how about Governor Mitch?"
