SYRACUSE — Rebecca Anne “Becky” Chaney, 63, Syracuse, passed away at 3:25 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 4, 2018, at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne.
She was born July 1, 1955, in Hastings, Mich., to Harold L. and Metha M. Waters Gray.
She graduated in 1973 from Hastings High School and moved to the Syracuse area 39 years ago from Michigan. She was employed with Tranter Graphics, Syracuse, for past 11 years and was former owner/operator of Key Tax Service, Syracuse.
She is survived by a daughter, Jessica Schmitt, Ocoee, Fla.; two sons, Douglas (Lisa) Chaney, Hawley, Texas, and Bryan (Heather) Chaney, Syracuse; five grandchildren; a sister, Susan (Patrick) McGarry, Grand Rapids, Mich.; and her stepmother, Mary Lou Hart, Hastings.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a grandson, Steven Chaney.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 8, at Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse. A memorial service will follow at 7 p.m. Monday in the funeral home, with Pastor Mike Kelley of Word of Truth Ministries officiating.
Private family burial will take place in Riverside Cemetery, Hastings, at a later date.
