FORT WAYNE – R. Joe Shaffer, 66, of Fort Wayne, died Dec. 27, 2012. He was born to L. Arden and Esther E. Blickenstaff Shaffer, of Silver Lake. His wife, Donna M. Shaffer, survives in Fort Wayne. He was a member of the last graduating class at Sidney High School in 1964 and was a Purdue graduate. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era. For 43 years, he owned Advanced Electric, though he was “at home” farming the fields. Also surviving are a daughter, Marla K. Shaffer, Fort Wayne; siblings: John R. Shaffer, Silver Lake; Betty S. (and spouse John) Hill, Walling, Tenn.; Susan R. (and spouse James) Orr, Janesville, Wis.; and Judy E. (and spouse Sam) Lambert, Sparta, Tenn.; and several nieces and nephews. Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday at Klaehn, Fahl & Melton Funeral Homes, Wayne Street Chapel, 420 W. Wayne St., Fort Wayne. A graveside service will be at 2:30 p.m. at New Hope Cemetery, Phlox.
