BOURBON – R. “Doug” Hollan, 61, of Talma (Rochester), passed away unexpectedly at 10:51 p.m. Feb. 20, 2013, in Woodlawn Hospital, Rochester. He was born May 27, 1951, in Dayton, Ohio, to Edward Jr. and Elvira Large Hollan. On Feb. 22, 1969, he married Vergie Howard, who survives. He was a resident of Talma since 1978. He was a hard worker, working at trailer factories and Tippecanoe Foundry. Other interests include his workmanship with old cars and hot rod building. He was a member of the Rebel Rouser’s Car Club and was a people person who never met a stranger. Also surviving are two sons, Douglas Edward (and spouse Vanessa) Hollan and Allen Wade Hollan, all of Rochester; grandsons, Shelby Douglas Dean Hollan and Justin Mullins; four sisters: Bonnie (and spouse Paul) Combs, Jackson, Ky.; Barbara Fugate, Bremen; Christine (and spouse Al) Turner, Wattsburg, Pa.; and Dolly Hollan, Winchester, Ky.; and six brothers: Charles (and spouse Connie) Hollan, John (and spouse Vickie) Hollan Scott (and spouse Amy) Hollan, all Jackson, Ky.; Edward Hollan, Bremen; Bryce Hollan, Winchester; Ernest Paul (and spouse Jackie) Hollan, Leslie, Ky. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Robert Lee Hollan. Services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Deaton-Clemens Funeral Home, 115 S. Main St., Bourbon.
