Property Taxes Mistake

Posted
Editor, Times-Union:

I enjoyed reading your News Views in the Feb. 2 issue of the Times-Union. It shows some people are thinking about the issue, unlike the people in the State House.

This 1-2-3 plan is just a Mitch Daniels effort to protect his donor base while shifting the burden to the rest of us. I thoroughly dislike the policy Mitch Daniels has brought to Indiana with his "Major Mistakes" policies.

Having said that, being a realist, I know he will probably be re-elected with $9 million so far in his campaign fund. We can't do much about that other than vote against him, but he has a record to run on now. But something we can do locally is to try get a representative for District 18. It doesn't make any sense to vote when Dave Wolkins is the only one on the ballot. Bill Ruppel in District 22 has some competition. If they re-elect him, they deserve him. With the filing deadline coming up, I hope to see some competition.

I noticed when the reps voted to double their salary, Mitch Daniels gleefully signed it. If Mitch was really looking for waste in government, he could start with his salary and the state representatives' salary. Mitch Daniels is a firm believer in Leona Helmsley's saying "only little people pay taxes." We are in the process of finding out who the little people are.
