Principles Of Trumpism

Posted
Editor, Times-Union:

The principles of Trumpism are what built America. They used to be called patriotism. But the ones that have hijacked the definition reject anything associated with Donald Trump. But they are very simple principles that our Founding Fathers would endorse.

First, Trumpism believes in the American people. He believes Americans should have more say in their lives and supports school choice. Those that want to condemn minority students to failing schools instead of allowing them to go to better schools are racists. Ted Kennedy was a racist because he didn't want black parents to have school vouchers to allow them to send their children to the same quality of schools Ted sent his children to. Maybe he feared they would do better than his children. Biden supports the teachers unions that lately have supported the teaching of sexual exploration, the hateful critical race theory and propaganda that undermines the authority of parents over their children. I was fortunate enough to go to good public schools. But they are the exception nowadays.

Trumpism believes in America first. That means Made In America should be more prevalent than made in any other nation. When car companies cut costs by having China make the computer chips for their vehicles, they didn't foresee today when the lack of domestic chip making ability would keep vehicles from being completed. We are no longer energy independent because Biden and the Left decided to go for green energy and scrap conventional sources of energy like fossil fuels and even nuclear at times. If Biden got his way and we had by 2030 200 million electric vehicles that were recharged thanks to solar energy, we would need solar cells that would cover the states of Alaska, Texas and Maine. We'd need a national third rail system for trains and either ground-based energy transmission beams or power satellites to beam energy down to planes.

Trumpism believes in dependence on capitalism and private investment because dependence on the government is a form of slavery. Trumpism believes in removing regulations and barriers that prevent things from being done. Biden and Democrats want the government to control our lives which is a form of fascism. Operation Warp Speed was a success because private drug companies and not the government produced the vaccines we needed. Trumpism also believes in free speech. Sure Trump bragged a bit too much and made fun of various people. He might have wanted team owners to fire players that took a knee during the playing of the National Anthem. But he didn't consider them terrorists that should be arrested.

Maybe in 2024, we'll have Trumpism again. If not, we better not have another four years of Bidenism.
