Prep Roundup: Lady Squires Win Wabash County Tournament

WABASH – The Manchester girls golf team won its third straight Wabash County Tournament on Saturday at Honeywell Golf Course.

The Lady Squires (3-0) were led by tournament medalist Kelsey Eichenauer, who shot an 18-hole score of 79.

Madyson?Ulrey and Cora Barnett each shot 89s for Manchester, while Sam Kissell had a 90 and Alissa Bickerstaff shot a 107.

Rounding out the lineup was Morgan Stroud, who shot a 110.

“Our swings are really coming along and I know our best is yet to come for our team,” said Manchester coach Josh Troyer.

Wabash shot a 401, while Northfield had a team score of 415.

 

Wawasee Girls Golf Places Fifth At Own Tournament

SYRACUSE – Wawasee’s girls golf team placed fifth at the Wawasee Invitational on Saturday at South Shore Golf Course.

Belle Brunner shot an 18-hole score of 91 for the Lady Warriors, who finished with a team score of 401.

Wawasee’s Lesley Tayagua carded a 98, while Valerie Haessig shot a 101, Jadison Rostochak 111 and Tate Cowan 115.

Whitko finished eighth out of 10 teams with a total score of 443.  Elkhart Memorial also shot a 443, but won the fifth-player tiebreaker to place seventh.

Northridge won the invite with a 348. The?Lady Raiders’ Braedyn O’Dell was the invitational’s medalist with a 75.



Tigers Open Season With Shutout

WARSAW – The Warsaw Tigers opened the boys soccer season with a 2-0 shutout of Carroll on Saturday.

The Tigers took advantage of Carroll fouls to score both of their goals.

Jorge Rico scored within the first two minutes of the match, and Jose Lara scored the second goal at the 63-minute mark.



Lakeland Christian Girls Soccer Tops North Miami

WINONA?LAKE – The Lakeland?Christian Academy girls soccer team opened its season with a 5-2 victory over visiting North Miami on?Saturday.

Tori Calizo and Jessi Calizo scored two goals each for the Lady Cougars, while Anna Reimink also scored.

Lakeland goalie Maddie Paris tallied seven saves.



Lady Warriors Sweep Bremen In Freshman Match

BREMEN – Wawasee’s freshman volleyball team defeated Bremen 25-16, 25-12 on Saturday at Bremen High School.

The Lady Warriors (1-0) were led by Laney Gross’ seven assists, two kills and two aces.

Dylan Konieczny and Megan Mottern had four kills each for Wawasee, while Lauren Miller had four aces, Gloria Slabaugh tallied three kills and Brittany Price recorded three aces.
