Prep Roundup: Haines, Lemberg Lead Lady Warriors

SYRACUSE – Hannah Haines was the hero at the plate, while Amber Lemberg went the distance in the pitcher’s circle in Wawasee’s 4-3, nine-inning softball win over Northern?Lakes Conference foe Goshen Friday night.
In the Strike Out Cancer Game, in which the team’s raised money for cancer awareness, Haines hit a walkoff single in the bottom of the ninth inning to lead the Lady Warriors to the win and improve their record to 13-2 overall and 6-0 in the NLC.
Haines finished the game 3 for 5 with two RBIs and two runs scored.
Ale Brito, Leah deSomer and Aubrey Kuhn all had two hits for the winners.
Lemberg pitched nine innings, giving up just four hits. She struck out six and walked five.
Kate Atkinson was charged with the loss for Goshen after giving up 12 hits and four runs in 8-1/3 innings of work. She struck out two and walked two.
Elkah DeVoe, Alexia Nettrouer, Caitlyn Doyle and Atkinson each had a hit for Goshen, which fell to 9-6 overall and 4-2 in the NLC.
Wawasee won the JV game 11-1, improving to 7-2 overall and 6-0 in the NLC. Beth Flannery had a hit and three RBIs in the victory, and also got the win in the circle.
The Lady Warriors are scheduled to play at East Noble today.

Miller Homers Twice In Warsaw Win
Alex Miller homered in his first two at-bats Friday, leading the Warsaw Tigers to a 4-1 win over visiting Northern Lakes Conference foe Concord.
The Tigers, who improved to 5-9 overall and 2-4 in league play, also got two hits from Luke Baker.
Jordan Jones pitched the first six innings and was credited with the win, while Caden Bowers pitched the seventh for the save.
The Tigers host NLC rival Elkhart Memorial on Monday.

Warriors Fall To NLC Rival Goshen
GOSHEN – The Wawasee Warriors committed four errors and managed just three hits in an 8-1 loss at Northern?Lakes Conference foe Goshen Friday night.
The host RedHawks scored two runs in both the first and second innings and scored four more in the bottom of the fifth after Wawasee scored in the top of the frame.
Goshen pounded out 10 hits in the win.
Gavin Barker, Rylan Kuhn and Jacob Carson all had a hit for Wawasee, with Barker’s hit being a double.
Carter Woody took the loss on the mound after giving up six hits and four runs in three innings of work. He issued three walks.
For Goshen, Austin Cain needed just 63 pitches over six innings to get the win. Cain is yet to give up a walk this season in 25 innings.
Phillip Wertz and Will Koshmider had two hits each for the RedHawks.
Wawasee, now 5-8 overall and 1-4 in the NLC, hosts NLC rival Concord Monday.
Goshen won the JV?game 7-5, led by Drew Marlow’s grand slam.
