A plea hearing for the man accused of causing a double fatal crash on Christmas was delayed.
Mickgomery Hisey, 26, Syracuse, was scheduled to change his plea from not guilty to guilty in Kosciusko Superior Court III Thursday morning.
Judge Joe Sutton rescheduled the plea hearing for Sept. 19.
Police say Hisey was drunk and speeding in the Syracuse area known as “Crazy Corners.” He hit a car driven by Stephen Conrad Sr. head on.
Conrad’s wife, Kim, and son, Stephen Conrad II, were killed in the accident. The elder Conrad, Hisey and Brody Jordan, a passenger in Hisey’s vehicle, were injured in the crash.
Hisey’s blood-alcohol level was .12, according to court records.
Hisey is scheduled to face a jury trial on eight felony counts, including two counts of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated and causing death.
The trial will be canceled if Hisey pleads guilty.
Scott Lennox, Hisey’s attorney, requested the delay Thursday to give Hisey a chance to review the police reports.
Lennox said it’s Hisey’s constitutional right so that he can make a plea.
“He still intends to accept full responsibility,” Lennox said.
It is not known what the terms of Hisey’s plea agreement are.
