GOSHEN – Phyllis J. Miller, 76, died Feb. 26, 2011, in the Center for Hospice Care, Elkhart.
She was born Sept. 6, 1935, in Mentone, to Ralph and Genevieve McGriff Warren. On April 18, 1954, in Mentone, she married Lloyd S. Miller, who survives.
She was a 1953 graduate of Mentone High School, a homemaker and a volunteer. She was an active member of Brenneman Memorial Missionary Church, where she served as a youth leader. She will be remembered for her many creative crafting projects. She also served as pianist for Gospel Echoes, Goshen, and Full Gospel Church, New Paris. She volunteered as room mother and as Fun Fair chairman at Chamberlain Elementary School.
She was devoted to providing opportunities for Scouting in the Goshen area. She served as a Cub Scout leader and membership chairman, and was awarded the Silver Beaver and the Award of Merit for her achievements. She was also a dedicated Campfire Leader.
Also surviving are a son, Bruce A. Miller (and Suzan Kesim) Miller, South Bend; a daughter, Gale R. Miller Everest, Rochester; a granddaughter, Ashley Nicole Everest; and two sisters, Bonnie (and spouse John) McCloughan, Greensburg, Ky., and Carolyn (and spouse Bill) Church, Angola. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Donnabelle Grossman, Margie Ervin and Martha Parker.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, Goshen, officiated by Pastor Russ Hunsberger of Brenneman Memorial Missionary Church. Burial will be in Violett Cemetery, Goshen.
