SYRACUSE - Phillip S. "Phil" Gustas, 45, of Syracuse, died at 5:50 p.m. June 1, 2007, in his residence, of an apparent heart attack.
He was born July 22, 1961, in Chicago, Ill., to Stanley and Jean Vaile Gustas. On Oct. 19, 1985, in Palos Park, Ill., he married Benita D. Olsen, who survives.
Living most of his life in the Chicago area, he graduated from Brother Rice High School, Oak Lawn, in 1979. Moving to Syracuse from Chicago in 2000, he was a welder fabrication specialist at Hinsdale Farms, Bristol, for seven years. He was a member of the Catholic Church and Masonic Lodge, Burbank, Ill., and a former Boy Scout leader for many years.
Also surviving are two sons, Jeremy Gustas, Syracuse, and Phillip Gustas, Wisconsin; a daughter, Christel Gustas, Syracuse; his mother, Jean Gustas, Oak Lawn; two sisters, Mrs. Larry (Gloria) Hobart and Mrs. Jack (Judy) Heaney, both of Oak Lawn; and a brother, Stanley Gustas, Houston, Texas. He was preceded in death by his father.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Owen Family Funeral Home, Syracuse. Burial will be in Syracuse Cemetery.
