KOKOMO – Phillip James “Phil” Meyer, 71, Silver Lake, passed away at 5:18 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2018, at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne.
He was born July 17, 1947, in St. Joseph County, the son of the late Robert W. and Mary Ellen Godfrey Meyer. On May 6, 2006, he married Nancy D. Carter; she survives.
Phil graduated from Penn High School in Mishawaka. He served with the United States Army. Phil retired in 2004 from Chrysler after 33 years of service and was a member of UAW Local #685. After his retirement from Chrysler, he hauled RVs, and loved to fish.
Along with his wife, Nancy, Phil is also survived by his daughters, Ann (Frank) Deditch and Sherry Meyer; stepchildren: Kevin (Meisa) Cope, Matthew Cope and Lindsey Cope (Jonah Walters); grandchildren: Lacy Deditch, Shandi Deditch, Abigail Deditch, Frank Deditch and Mikayla Beard; stepgrandchildren: CJ Cope, Dylan Cope and Jackson Cope; great-grandson, Mikki Richardson; mother-in-law, Wilma Roy; brothers-in-law David (Jama) Carter and Steve (Marilyn) Carter; and sister-in-law, Cathy (Mike) Driscoll.
Phil was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Monday Aug. 27, at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home, Jefferson Street Chapel, 414 W. Jefferson St., Kokomo. Burial will follow in Crown Point Cemetery. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
