GAS CITY - Phillip E. Baskett, 74, of Leesburg, and formerly of Jonesboro and Carmel, died April 26, 2010, from injuries suffered in a house fire Feb. 17, 2010.
He was born in New Castle, on March 29, 1936, to Russell and Edna Bundy Baskett. In 1954, he married Mary Lou Duckworth, who preceded him in death.
He graduated from Mississinewa High School, Gas City. He had worked in sales most of his life. He was a member of the Herbert Kuhn American Legion Post 235, North Webster, and Warsaw Moose Lodge. Phil was active in lake conservation and preservation.
Surviving are a brother, Russell (and spouse Sarah Jo) Baskett, Virginia; three sons: Allen (and spouse Margaret) Baskett, Celina, Ohio; Phil Baskett, Newport Richey, Fla.; and Stan (and spouse Kelly) Baskett, Carmel; a daughter, Linda (and spouse Steve) Biggers, Indianapolis; nine grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, Gas City, with Pastor Richard Martin officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Gas City.
