OK, I've got to say something. I feel so sorry for the parents who have lost children in yet another school shooting.
I know your pain because I lost a daughter too, several years ago, to murder. But she wasn't killed with a gun. It is true. Guns don't kill people. People kill people. Whether they use a gun, a truck, poison, or their hands – it's people who kill people.
People who have a grudge or want to make a statement. And people who are so desperate they kill. If we take their guns, they will find another tool.
I wish too, we could change things, but more laws don't change hearts and motivations of evil and hurting people. Only the power of God can do that. We're a people who have ignored God, outlawed Bible reading and prayer, exchanged morals for "anything goes." Self control is outdated. Self-expression is everyone's right, right?
With this logic, murder is only an intense form of self-expression.
I admire the students who are determined and dedicated in marching, but I have no hope in their efforts. Our only hope is that as Christians we become as determined and dedicated and united as the students – but in prayer for revival.
This is the only hope for our society to ever change. Unless there is preaching against sin, unless we learn to forgive, unless we acknowledge our need for God as individuals and as a society, we will all be swallowed up by anger, grief, resentment, retaliation and hopelessness.
