Pearl Harbor Day

Posted
Editor, Times-Union:

Yesterday was Dec. 7, 2009. President Roosevelt declared it as a "A Date Which Will Live in Infamy".

Of course I am speaking of December 7th, 1941. I may have missed it but I could not find one article in the Times-Union concerning this "Day of Infamy" in our great nation's history. Is it any wonder we seem to be losing our way as a great nation when we forget how we got here. I was born six weeks after that date but I understand the significance of the event in our history. How it put us in a state of fear and how our fear led to resolve and resolve led to action and our action led to victory over tyranny.

I could never have imagined we would forget to acknowledge Pearl Harbor and the beginning of our nation's leadership and freedom in the world. But I can imagine how we can become victims of tyranny once again. And then I fear we will not find our resolve, our plan, take action and see victory over that tyranny.

Please for the sake of our great nation and our future, remind everyone how much it cost to get here.
