HAMLET — Pearl Catherine McIntire, 80, Knox, passed away Friday, June 29, 2018, at her home.
Pearl was born Jan. 15, 1938, in Pierceton, to Francis O. and Ruby A. Bailey Widman and lived in the area most of her life.
On Nov. 28, 1959, in Pierceton, she was married to Dean McIntire, who survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Theresa (Scott) McGee, Indianapolis, and Deana (Mike) Smith, Franklin; two sons, Ronald (Cindy) McIntire, Hamlet, and John (Lisa) McIntire, Warsaw; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Brent Widman, Pierceton.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Pearl was a retired registered nurse. She was a 1959 graduate of St. Joseph Hospital School of Nursing and received her B.S. degree in health arts at St. Francis School in Joliet, Ill. She was a member of the Indiana State Nurses Association and had been employed as the Starke County public health nurse, school nurse at Oregon-Davis Schools for 20 years, and had worked at Starke Memorial Hospital and LaPorte Hospital. She was also a member of the Starke County Extension Homemakers Club and a former Starke County 4-H leader. She was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church, Hamlet, and the Holy Cross Altar Rosary Society, and also attended Hamlet United Methodist Church.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, July 6, at Rannells Funeral Home, Hamlet Chapel. Burial will follow at Fletcher Cemetery, Hamlet.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Rannells Funeral Home, Hamlet Chapel, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. A rosary service will be at 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
