NORTH MANCHESTER - Patricia Ann Frederick Ringenberg, 81, formerly of North Manchester, died Dec. 1, 2009, in Mount Vernon Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born May 23, 1928, in Laketon, to Wallace and Hilda Redmon Frederick. On Aug. 15, 1948, she married Robert W. Ringenberg, who died Nov. 24, 1988.
She graduated from Laketon High School in 1946; spent two years at Purdue University; and earned a bachelor's degree in home economics and physical education from Manchester College in 1958, and a master's degree in vocational home economics from Ball State University in 1962. She started teaching in 1955, at Silver Lake High School, then North Manchester High School from 1959-87. She sponsored the Sunshine Society at both schools. She taught driver's education in the Warsaw school system for two years and substituted K-12 for four years. She was a active member of the Republican Party, the Presidential Round Table and the Senatorial Inner Circle group, which she traveled with to Scotland and England. In 1989, she attended the inauguration of George H. Bush and Dan Quayle of Huntington. She attended many meetings of the Presidential Roundtable in Washington, D.C. She held many local, county and state offices in the Republican Party. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, served as Ways and Means Chair and was secretary of the Historical Society of North Manchester. She also was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma for 35 years. She authored four books: "Pat's Book," "History of North Manchester," "Old and New Sayings" and a background book of the "Frederick Family."
She was preceded in death by a sister.
A graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Oaklawn Cemetery, North Manchester.
Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Grandstaff-Hentgen Bender Chapel, North Manchester, with a eulogy at 7 p.m.
