Patricia A. Oppenheim, 69, of Leesburg, died at 8:51 a.m. Feb. 11, 2010, in her residence.
She was born July 19, 1940, in DuQuoin, Ill., to Leslie T. and Dorothy M. Stanton Harrison. On Nov. 29, 1969, in Syosset, N.Y., she married J. Phillip Oppenheim, who died Aug. 23, 1994.
She graduated from DuQuoin High School in 1958, and Southern Illinois University in 1961, with a bachelor's degree in accounting. In 1961, she took a position with the Magnavox Corp., Fort Wayne, in the finance department. After marrying Phil, she became active in the family business, Oppenheim's Department and Catalog Stores, Wabash and Kosciusko counties. After Phil's passing, she continued to operate the stores until her retirement. She was involved in several philanthropic endeavors including serving as a member of the board of directors of Kosciusko Community Hospital; board of directors of the K21 Foundation; and former finance chairman for the United Way of Kosciusko County. For several years she was a substantial donor to the Indiana Nature Conservancy and was a major benefactor and member of the Presidents Club of Hillsdale (Mich.) College. In addition, she was a longtime member of the Tippecanoe Lake Country Club, Leesburg.
She is survived by her loving family including her father, Leslie T. Harrison, Leesburg; a sister, Jo A. (and spouse Steven E.) Satterfield, Rapidan, Va.; two nieces: Amy M. Satterfield Bryant, Alexandria, Va.; Wendy S. Satterfield (and spouse Chris) Stewart, Indialantic, Fla.; a grand-niece, Sarah E. Stewart, Indialantic; a grand-nephew, Zachary Stewart, Indialantic; a brother- and sister-in-law, Al and Barbara (Oppenheim) Eisenstein, Long Boat Key, Fla.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw, with Pastor Glenn Hall officiating. A private burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery, North Manchester.
