Obama

Editor, Times-Union:

Like many fellow Americans across this great nation, I, too, am fed up with our current government and especially our Congressional leadership and the partisan bickering that has plagued our nation for the past four years. But why should I, or anyone else, believe that Barack Hussein Obama Jr., the Democratic presidential hopeful, is the one to bring "change" to this country? What has Obama accomplished as a U.S. Senator that would convince anyone that he can get the job done? Once again, I invite all Americans to review Mr. Obama's voting record as a U.S. Senator for what I believe answers that question. Mr. Obama's plan for "change," whatever it is, seems to change every time Mr. Obama opens his mouth. Mr. Obama has yet to clearly define his proposals for "change" and his implementation plan to the American public.

For instance, Mr. Obama started out in the beginning of his campaign vowing to stop nuclear development and reducing our military strength and equipment both, which are vital to our nation's energy crisis and our national security. However, in a recent televised interview, Obama reversed his stance on both of these particular issues, which now he supports. But who knows what Obama's next policy stance will be a week from now. Obama's continued inability to both define and remain focused on the issues is a reflection of poor decisiveness and leadership. Perhaps, Obama should seek further advice from former Democratic President Bill Clinton.Obama still believes that his qualifications as a community organizer or activists meet the qualifications for commander in chief. Mr. Obama's warm fuzzy flowery teleprompt speeches have mesmerized and almost hypnotized many Americans to include the world. There are many American today who are desperate for change. In my opinion, desperate people are often easy targets of opportunity for smooth talkers and overnight solutions. However, flowery speeches and meaningless rhetoric are an open arms invitation to empty promises.

America must also keep in mind during this election year that another problem will still exists after this presidential election has been decided concerning our Congressional leadership led by individuals such as Democrats Nancy Pelosi, Carl Levine, Pat Leahy, Dick Durbin, Harry Reid, Ted Kennedy, Barbara Boxer just to name a few, who in my opinion have brought nothing but discord and dissension into our government. I believe those previously mentioned have the same liberal mind set of Mr. Obama, which could spell disaster for America should Mr. Obama get elected the presidency.

I think Dr. Jack Wheeler's description of Mr. Obama sums it up for all when he says, "The O-man, Barack Hussein Obama, is an eloquently tailored empty suit. No resume, no accomplishment, no experience, no original ideas, no understanding of how the economy works, no understand of how the world works, no guts, nothing but abstract empty rhetoric devoid of real substance."
