North Miami Nips Whitko To Lead Local RoundupSOUTH WHITLEY — Needing to play an extra period to determine a winner back in the Wabash County Tournament, Friday’s game between Whitko and North Miami was just as close again. North Miami ultimately won the consolation game of the December tournament, 54-45, and in Friday night’s Three Rivers Conference game in South Whitely, the visiting Warriors got the narrow 41-38. The loss is Whitko’s 10th-straight and leaves it at 1-13 overall and still in search of a TRC victory, falling to 0-5. The Warriors may have been Whitko’s best shot at that TRC victory, as they now sit at 2-11, with both those wins being against the Wildcats. Things don’t get much easier for Whitko, as its next game is at Class 3A No. 9 West Noble Thursday then closes its TRC campaign at 10-4 Manchester on Feb. 15. NORTH MIAMI 41, WHITKO 38 (Complete Stats Unavailable) Records: NM 2-11 (1-4 TRC), Whitko 1-13 (0-5 TRC).
