Stillwater Hospice would like to clarify information about our nonprofit status that was discussed in a story in Ink Free News on Aug. 19: https://www.inkfreenews.com/2025/08/19/county-council-discusses-parking-garage-airport-stillwater-on-day-one-of-budget-hearings/
Stillwater Hospice is a nonprofit, locally based hospice that’s been serving northeast Indiana for more than 137 years. We have been and continue to be a locally-based, non-profit organization that cares for anyone who is in need of our services.
On March 1, 2023, Stillwater Hospice formally partnered with Kosciusko Home Care and Hospice (KHCH), a fellow Warsaw-based nonprofit hospice organization. The decision to partner together was an intentional, thorough, and strategic decision made by leaders in Kosciusko County.
We came together to ensure that Kosciusko County continued to have the option of a local, nonprofit, community-based provider. We continue to hold an office location in Warsaw and serve individuals in assisted living, skilled nursing communities and residential homes throughout the county.
Each quarter in 2024 and 2025 we have reported to Kosciusko County Council and Kosciusko County Commissioners the number of Kosciusko County residents who are served by our palliative, hospice and grief support services along with the amount of funding we have expended from what has been awarded. Stillwater has not only built on the quality of services that were being provided by KHCH, but we have also expanded our offerings such as respite care for hospice patients at Hospice Home and our extensive grief services. Through our partnership with KHCH, Stillwater Hospice also oversees the administration of the Pavilion Help Center, also located in Warsaw at the Health Services Pavilion.
Stillwater team members including nurses, CNA’s social workers, spiritual care counselors, volunteers and administrative staff live and work in Kosciusko County. That local connection makes all the difference when families are facing serious illness or end-of-life decisions.
Our team understands the community, the people, and the resources available. And because we are a nonprofit, we turn no one away, regardless of their ability to pay.
We often say, “Know us before you need us,” because hospice decisions are best made with clear information and trust.
Stillwater Hospice isn’t some distant organization — it’s Kosciusko County’s own community members providing comfort and compassion when it matters most.
As a nonprofit organization, both in the past and moving forward, we care deeply about the community we serve. We want to ensure the community has clear and accurate information about who we are, including our mission, history, purpose, and tax status.
