No Tippy/Chapman Sewer

Editor, Times-Union:

This letter is concerning the regional sewer installation in the Tippy Lake/Chapman Lake, Oswego area.

There has been much controversy and discussion of this new plan. There were well over 75 residents in attendance at a meeting held in the Oswego Community Building last night (Sept. 20) from the above-mentioned area, most of whom have lived in this part of Kosciusko County for well over three decades.

The majority stood up and voiced their disapproval on this project. Many expressed griefs and disgusts. Opinions were ranging widely from talk that the project is not needed, to the exuberant cost for all peoples included in this plan.

I myself am deeply concerned that the plan will hold the disapproval of most, if not all, folks who live in this area. All the residents have had septic service for well over 40 to 60 years here. If the concern is that great, why not have a community inspection or "check list" to have residents’ septic systems inspected and brought "up to code," instead of putting all the finances toward a sewer system?

We're small town people, agriculturists and lakers who love the peace and quiet of the country, not the hustle and bustle of the city. Please consider this. And don't throw  away a quiet, peace-loving citizens’ taxpayers’ dollar into this project.

Thank you for your consideration in this matter.
