COLUMBIA CITY - Nicholas Carson Linvill, 21, of Columbia City, left this life Aug. 1, 2008, from injuries suffered in a traffic accident one mile from his Oliver Lake summer home, LaGrange.
He was born April 9, 1987, in Marion, to Steven and Kathleen Linvill, who survive.
As a junior in broadcasting and telecommunications at Ball State University, he was an on-air personality of campus radio station WCRD. At Columbia City High School, he was active in speech and debate, varsity swim team and band. He was a DeKalb County Tops 4-H winner and a 4-H exchange student to Japan, Mexico and Poland. He won many championships in showing horses, cats and baking. He was active in the LaGrange United Methodist Church presenting children's sermons. He was an avid reader and enjoyed music, video games and playing cards with friends. He especially enjoyed water sports at Oliver Lake, swimming, sailing and his jet ski. He was a loving son and loyal friend and an inspiration to all. He will be greatly missed.
Also surviving are a sister, Katelyn, 12; two uncles, James Beaver, West Lafayette, and Tom (and spouse Nancy) Beaver, Kalamazoo, Mich.; an aunt, Ellen (and spouse Lannie) Maloney, Columbia City; a grandmother, Aimee Linvill, Columbia City; and many cousins. He was preceded in death by two grandfathers, Dr. Norman Beaver and Marshall H. Linvill, and a grandmother, Marjorie Beaver.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at LaGrange United Methodist Church, 209 W. Spring St., LaGrange. Burial will be at 3 p.m. in Blue River Cemetery, Whitley County.
Calling is from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City, and one hour prior to the service Thursday at the church.
