GOSHEN – Neva Sara Bentley Longenecker, 90, of CR 24, Elkhart, and formerly of Texas, died June 25, 2013, in Hubbard Hill Estates.
She was born Sept. 25, 1922, in Ashtola, Texas, to George Allen and Sue Ella Brooks Bentley. On June 4, 1944, in El Paso, Texas, she married Jack Longenecker, who died June 8, 2001.
She was a member of First Baptist Church, Keller, Texas, and formerly a member of Calvary Baptist Church, South Bend. As a homemaker, she loved sewing, gardening, being with her family and a good game of 42 or Skip-Bo. She was a wonderful baker and a great cook. She was a resident at Hubbard Hill Estates, Elkhart, and the family would like to express their deep appreciation for their great care and loving attention given to Neva.
Surviving are three sons: John Bentley (and spouse Joyce) Longenecker, Centreville, Va.; Chester David (and spouse Tonda) Longenecker, Southlake, Texas; James Fredrick (and spouse Judy) Longenecker, Elkhart; five grandchildren: Eric Longenecker, Jenny (and spouse Mike) Wenzel, Lori (and spouse Ernie) Keresztes, Jason Longenecker, and Sara (and spouse Chris) Smith; seven great-grandchildren: Sam, Julia, Danielle, Neva, Will, Jack and Bentley; a brother-in-law, Joe (and spouse Norma) Longenecker, North Webster; a sister-in-law, Pat Longenecker, Warsaw; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by brothers and sisters: George, L.K., Adell, Ed, Mozelle, Brooks, Cecil, Anne, Sue and Maxine.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Rieth-Rohrer-Ehret Funeral Home, 311 S. Main St., Goshen, with Dave Severance, director of chaplaincy services, Hubbard Hill Estates, officiating. Burial will be in Oswego Cemetery.
Calling is from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
