NAPPANEE - Monna C. Darkwood, 73, of Miller's Merry Manor, Wakarusa, and formerly of Nappanee, died at 9 a.m. April 24, 2007, in Elkhart General Hospital.

She was born Jan. 23, 1934, in Kosciusko County, to Wayne and Nellie Lutes Sechrist. On March 15, 1958, near Nappanee, she married Gerald Devon Darkwood, who died April 28, 1999.

A lifetime area resident, she was a Nappanee High School graduate, a homemaker, a farmwife and drove bus for Aux Chandel. She was a member of Union Center Church of the Brethren.

Surviving are four daughters, Tina Darkwood, Mrs. Carl (Jeri) Dull and Mrs. Perry (Colean) McCoy, all of Goshen, and Mrs. Jerry (Nella) Putman, Mishawaka; a son, Randy Jennings, South Bend; four grandchildren; eight grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Emmett (Betty) Cobb, Syracuse.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee, with the Rev. Kathleen O'Connell officiating. Burial will be in Union Center Cemetery.

Calling is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
