Mine Is Bigger Than Yours

Posted

Editor, Times-Union:
I know my audience, Mr. Helton, and I know yours. I read, I watch, I listen to many, many sources constantly. I recognize truth and B.S., and I know how to tell the difference. For instance, I know that we the people know absolutely nothing about the Venezuelan boats our leader chose to obliterate — illegally. I know that “illegal” immigrants do not receive free health care. I know that it was our own vice president who once likened Donald Trump to Hitler, and that some of the “best people” he once hired called him a fascist and a tyrant.
I do realize that “some things said cause the mentally ill (who always seem to have easy access to assault weapons) to act violently.” Have you paid attention to recent “things said” by Donald Trump? Calling Democrats “really dumb people,” … “more dangerous than U.S. foreign adversaries,” “radical left lunatics,” “the enemies from within.” He has called immigrants “animals.” “They have wrecked our country.” “They are poisoning the blood of our country.”
Trump pretty much summed up all of his past and present dangerous rhetoric at Charlie Kirk’s funeral: “I hate my opponent, and I don’t want the best for them.” Are these words not inflammatory, divisive, and dangerous?
Other things I know: It is wrong and cruel to cut funding from U.S. cancer research, addiction and mental health care and school shooting prevention programs. It is wrong, cruel, and illegal to “kidnap” and “disappear” people of all ages who have committed no crimes, and given no due process, by masked, unidentified thugs just to meet a quota.
It is wrong to bully American universities, law firms, media companies, and even politicians. It is wrong for all of these entities to “cave” to a bully. It is wrong for anyone to look the other way when laws are broken and/or ignored by supposed lawmakers and when the U.S. Constitution is treated like an antiquated piece of waste paper by those who took an oath to protect and defend it.
The purpose of my letters, Mr. Helton, is to tell people what this administration is really doing.
You will not get this information from Fox, OAN or Newsmax. Note: Left-leaning media outlets are not even allowed into the Oval to ask relevant questions. Did you read Project 2025 (which Trump said he knew nothing about) before the election? Did you know dozens of its authors now work in the Trump Administration? In fact, Trump met with the main author last week — taking advantage of the shutdown — to discuss radically re-shaping the government by cutting more agencies?
I intend to continue finding and reporting the truth until my voice is silenced by those in charge. I refuse to be blindsided by ignorance. I will continue fighting for myself, my family, my friends — for you. I know which side of history I plan to be on. Apparently you do, too.
