Michael R. “Deacon” Chambers, 65, of rural Wabash, died at 10 p.m. Aug. 10, 2012, in his residence.
He was born May 19, 1947, in Seattle, Wash., to Robert Oliver and Madonna Isabelle Morrissette Chambers.
He was a Warsaw High School graduate, worked at Wabash Alloys for 42 years and was a part-time minister. He was a member of Eastwood Church of Christ, Wabash. He was an excellent athlete, participating in high school football, baseball and basketball. He enjoyed golfing.
Survived are three daughters: Tammy Miller, North Manchester; Amy Chambers, Warsaw; and Cyndi (and spouse Timothy) Sams, Wabash; seven grandchildren: James Chambers, Florida; Zachary and Brandon Chambers and Max Revis, all of Warsaw; Melody Miller, North Manchester; and Christian and Kayla Sams, both of Wabash; a brother, Dean Chambers, Atlanta, Ga.; and two sisters, Suzanne Chambers, Nashville, Tenn., and Donnette (and spouse Ron) Smock, Syracuse. He was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Corey Chambers.
Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Ave., Wabash, with evangelists Tim Tyner and Howard Waters officiating. Cremation will follow.
